PERSONAL BIO
I come from a musical family and started playing drums at 7 years of age. By “started”, I mean I snuck around on my brother’s kit when I could get away with it. My mother always had music in the house. As a child, I also sang in an opera alongside my brother. Granted, it was by maternal force, but today I appreciate the experience. One of my nieces tried out for American Idol and did really well. Not that I can take credit… just sharing. While drums are my passion (I rocked metal in the 80s and 90s!) I love all instruments and enjoy noodling on the ukulele, mandolin, guitar, keyboards, and whatever I can get my hands on. I play drums with The Disston Ridge Band (classic rock cover tunes) as a hobby.
THE ICEHOUSE
The Icehouse started out as an ice cream distribution company in the 1960s. When the current owners (Tim and Kim Church) bought it in December of 2022, it was The New Groove City Music Complex. It served as a rehearsal space for 5 local bands. It now serves 9 bands with lock-out rehearsal studios, has an hourly/daily rental studio, and an outdoor performance area for local and all-original bands to share their art with their fans and the public. Over time, it will evolve into space that is able to be used by more bands and other types of artists. Future goals include working with the City of Gulfport and St. Petersburg to take advantage of it's location on The Pinellas Trail by providing a rest stop area for cyclists and other trail users. In addition, The Icehouse currently provides free recording and production services to local non-profit Creative Clay for their music programs and free facilities us to non-profit Live Creation Music and Art Foundation for their music education programs and fundraisers.
